Welcome to my blog. In the internet world, I am a little part that exists. Here you'll find recipes, rants, a few history lessons, and general silliness.

Oh boy, this is going to be one of those blogs that could get me into trouble. I'm making judgements about people based on something I read in the morning news. Read on... Wal-Mart to Block Some Magazine Covers FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Wal-Mart Stores Inc. will begin obscuring the covers of some women's magazines stocked in checkout lanes, shortly after a decision to stop selling some men's magazines over their racy content. The company has begun testing "U-shaped blinders" that will cover the photos and language on the covers of Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Marie Claire and Redbook, spokesman Tom Williams said at the company's annual shareholders meeting Friday. "That's to accommodate those customers who are uncomfortable with the language on some of the magazine covers," Williams said. The company has been testing the blinders in some of its stores, he said, and they are expected to be in every Wal-Mart store by July. In early May the company announced that it was pulling men's magazines Maxim, FHM and Stuff off of store shelves because of their racy contents. Those magazines often feature scantily clad female celebrities on the cover. Okay, since when have Wal-Mart shoppers risen to hights that puts them above seeing a "scantily clad female" on the cover of a magazine? I'm sure you've all been to Wal-Mart. You've seen the "scantily clad females" that trot around in there with their 50 screaming kids. Only those females don't have the bodies to be scantily clad. More like their rolls of fat are haning out from under a shirt that is 3 sizes too small for them. And when they get to the check out line, they see FHM in the magazine rack and say "Look at that floozy on that magazine! She has loose morals! Disgusting trash!". Okay, whatever. I'm sure her scruffy, belching boyfriend is okay with looking at it. Now I have to say, not all Wal-Mart shoppers fall into that category ~ I've seen a few "normal" people in there from time to time....not very often, but sometimes. So to all you "normal" ones, forgive me for lumping you in with the, um...well....you know ;-) --- One last thing for a Friday. I got this joke this morning in my email. Dear Abby: My husband is a liar and a cheat. He has cheated on me from the beginning. When I confront him, he denies everything. What's worse is everyone knows he cheats on me. It is so humiliating! Also, since he lost his job two years ago, he hasn't even looked for a new one. All he does is sit around the living room in his underwear and watch TV while I work to pay the bills. And since our daughter went away to college he doesn't even pretend to like me. He keeps calling me a lesbian. What should I do? Signed, Clueless in New York Dear Clueless: Dump him. You're a New York senator now. You don't need him anymore. --- Happy Friday to all, and to all a good weekend! posted by Kitty Friday, June 06, 2003
