Welcome to my blog. In the internet world, I am a little part that exists. Here you'll find recipes, rants, a few history lessons, and general silliness.

Telephone Survey The summer before I went into 10 grade was fun. I hung out with a girl named Sharon and we always found something amusing to do. One day we went hunting around a business complex that was close to my house. It must have been a weekend because no one was there. We walked around looking in the windows....seemed fun at the time. Anyway, we came across this place called Oak Tree Publications and imagined it would be a cool place to work. We sat on the steps and dreamed up our jobs. At some point during all this we got the crazy idea to call people with famous names in the phone book and tell them we worked for Oak Tree Publications and ask them to take a survey. We even told them we'd mail them a copy of our "newsletter" so they could see the results of the survey. So we called people like G. Washington, P. Pan, R. Hood....and a bunch of others I can't remember. At the very end of the conversation we asked for their name. Nine times out of ten they had the famous name we figured they had. The really interesting thing was, they had no idea it was a totally bogus. I had to make all the calls because Sharon just could not muster the nerve to do it. I wasn't nervous at all and no one suspected I was a kid sitting my my Mom's kitchen table eating popsicles between each call. We had this list of bizarre questions. I can only remember one of them tho: About how many glasses of milk do you drink daily? All the questions were weird like that. Then I'd ask their name. They'd say Robin Hood...Peter Pan...George Washington....and I'd act as if I had no idea that was their name. Maybe after they hung up they wondered how I had their phone number but not their name. Or perhaps they started wondering when the Oak Tree Publications newsletter never showed up with the results of the survey ;-) posted by Kitty Tuesday, May 04, 2004
