Welcome to my blog. In the internet world, I am a little part that exists. Here you'll find recipes, rants, a few history lessons, and general silliness.

Best of Both

It's funny, Monday it rained and was *cold*..... yesterday and today it's been sunny and pleasantly warm. It's hard to know what to expect. Monday I was drinking hot tea and today I'm thinking about an icey cool citrus drink. I thought I'd post a few recipes that are sure to suit whatever kind of day you are having.

Melted Witch
(named that because it's green like a witch)

1 32 ounce bottle lemon-lime sports drink
1 32 ounce bottle lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage
DIRECTIONS: Combine the sports drink and the lemon-lime soda. Serve over ice.

Liquid Passion

8 ounces carbonated water
3/4 ounce passion fruit flavored syrup*
3/4 ounce watermelon flavored syrup*
1 ounce half-and-half cream
DIRECTIONS: Fill a tall glass half full with ice. Fill to 2/3 with carbonated water. Pour in watermelon and passion fruit flavored syrups. Add the half-and-half. Stir and enjoy.

*found in the coffee & tea or liquor section at most grocery stores.

Orange-Cinnamon Coffee

1 thick continuous strip of peel from 1 orange
8 whole cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
1 ounce almond liqueur (amaretto)
1 ounce orange liqueur (cointreau)
1 1/2 cups coffee
Whipped cream

DIRECTIONS: Stud the strip of orange peel with whole cloves, 2 inches apart. In a saucepan, place the orange peel, cinnamon sticks, and both liqueurs. Warm them for a few minutes. Divide the liquid into 2 glasses, discard the orange peel. Pour in coffee and garnish with whipped cream and the reserved cinnamon sticks.

Half & Half

2 ounces Kahlua
1 tablespoon cocoa
1-ounce amaretto
Hot coffee
Sweetened whipped cream, for topping

DIRECTIONS: Pour 1-ounce Kahlua into 1 coffee cup saucer. Put the cocoa into another saucer. Dip the rim of an old-fashioned glass first in the Kahlua, then in the cocoa. Add the remaining Kahlua and the amaretto to the glass. Fill the glass with hot coffee and top with whipped cream.
