Welcome to my blog. In the internet world, I am a little part that exists. Here you'll find recipes, rants, a few history lessons, and general silliness.

Some news.

The crack house across the street from my house might be going out of business soon. I say might because Greg thinks the guy who lives there has more lives than a cat.

Last week 6 cops showed up over there. I was sure they guy was going to be arrested, but they left about 40 minutes later without him. I heard one of the cops say something about the house is sure to be condemned. This is a glimer of hope for me. I really hope they were serious and will have the health inspector come out and look at this place. It's a disaster. I'm pretty sure they don't have running water in one of the bathrooms and they have rats....and God only knows what else. He had only wanted that mother cat I rescued because he said she was good for catching the rats.

shudders

And speaking of the mother cat, she was the first to be adopted from the foster home they were in! WhooHoo! A young couple fell inlove with her. I guess they had wanted a kitten, but they saw her and she was so sweet and loving that they had to have her. So that really made me happy. And all the kittens have been adopted....so it's a happy ending. I'm so glad I went over there on Easter and got them....I think I was the only one looking out for them.

There is part of the story I didn't post.

I had said that I got them all that day, but the truth is, I was only able to capture 5 of them. There was the 6th kitten that would not come out. I sat there for an hour asking God for patience and for Him to let it come out....soon. I finally had to give up and leave without the last one. I felt terrible. There was no way that 7 week old kitten was going to survive without her mother. It was going to die in that filthy disgusting garage. But what was I going to do?

Three days later I found a way. The foster mother that took them had a trap. She loaned it to me and I set it in his front yard next to a hole in the garage door. But there was not a peep. I was sure the kitten was dead. I mean it had been 3 days and I had no idea if it had eaten or not. The next morning there was still no action. I went over and got the trap and lined the bottom of it with paper thinking maybe the kitten didn't want to walk on the cage wire. I replaced the food and set it again. This was at about 6:30am. At 7:30am I was eating my breakfast and heard the most horrible howling ever. It was the kitten in the trap. I ran out and there was Mr. Crack Man toting the trap and kitten into his house. I knew he had plans on keeping the kitten since he had asked Greg if we still had the momma cat....he wanted her back...for rat control. Not fricking way!! I yelled for him to stop. Amazingly, he gave me trap and kitten without issue.

We had the kitten for 2 days because, for one reason or another, we could not drop it off at the foster home. The night before we were to drop it off, Greg said we should just keep it. He will tell you it was my idea, but it was his.

So that's how Abby came to be ours. Seemingly the most unlucky of the litter turned out to be the most lucky. She will live carefree in our home. We will love her and adore her for as long as she is alive.

sweetness

I had wondered why God had not answered my prayer that day.....to please just let her come out. Now I know He had a bigger plan. Had she come out that day...she would not be ours today.
