Wednesday Lyrics
It starts to rain, it begins to pour Without an umbrella we're soaked to the skin I feel a shiver run up my spine I feel the warmth of her hand in mine
Ooooo, I hear laughter in the rain Walking hand in hand with the one I love Ooooo, how I love the rainy days And the happy way I feel inside
After a while we run under a tree I turn to her and she kisses me There with the beat of the rain on the leaves Softly she breathes and I close my eyes Sharing our love under stormy skies
Ooooo, I hear laughter in the rain Walking hand in hand with the one I love Ooooo, how I love the rainy days And the happy way I feel inside I feel the warmth of her hand in mine
I feel the warmth of her hand in mine Ooooo, I hear laughter in the rain Walking hand in hand with the one I love Ooooo, how I love the rainy days And the happy way I feel inside Ooooh, I hear laughter in the rain Walking hand in hand with the one I love Ooooo, how I love the rainy days And the happy way I feel inside
~Laughter In The Rain, Neil Sedaka
Yes, Folks...I listen to Neil Sedaka. But this is the only song.

Selecting A Christmas Tree
For those who celebrate Christmas, it's time to think about getting a Christmas Tree! Here is a mad lib to help you!
No Christmas season can be really {adjective} unless you have a/an {adjective} tree in your {room}. If you live in a city, you will see many vacant {plural noun} filled with hundreds of {plural noun} for sale. If you live in the country, you can get your own {plural noun} right out of the forest. Go out with a/an {noun} and {noun}, and when you see a/an {adjective} tree you like, you can dig it up and plant it in a/an {noun}. Then you can use it for {number} years. To make sure your tree is fresh, shake the branches and see if the {plural noun} fall off onto the {noun}. Make sure the tree is very {color}. Nothing looks worse than a/an {another color} tree. Just follow these directions and you can have a perfectly beautiful {something alive} in your front room for weeks. Remember, poems and mad libs are made by fools like {person in the room}, but only {another person in the room} really understands us.

Shop! It's Cyber Monday
{this from a news.com article}
Online holiday sales are expected to hit nearly $20 billion this year and should take off on Monday, when consumers return to work and their fast Internet connections after the long Thanksgiving weekend.
"Cyber Monday," the term coined for the Monday after Thanksgiving, comes on the heels of the busy "Black Friday" shopping day when many brick-and-mortar retailers begin turning a profit.
The good news for online shoppers this year, is that "Cyber Monday" is becoming the Web shopping equivalent to "Black Friday" when retailers launch major sales and discounts to drive traffic, analysts said.
Well, I'm off to do some online shopping now!

Give Thanks Early And Often
Okay, get ready people....this is gonna be a good one. I have never made sweet potato before, but I had my very first piece a year ago....it was pretty good. I had my mind set that I didn't think I'd like it, but I was wrong, it was good. So here we go, a recipe for sweet potato pie with pecan topping. The pecans will push it over the top....I just know it will be outstanding!
Sweet Potato Pie with Pecan Topping Recipe
1 1/2 lbs sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 2 inch pieces 2 large eggs 1/3 cup plus another 1/2 cup packed brown sugar 3 Tbsp maple syrup 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg 3/4 cup plus 1 Tbsp heavy cream 1 store-bought frozen crust 3 Tbsp butter 1 cup of pecans, half of them lightly chopped, the other half whole
1. Pre-bake the pie crust. Defrost it 10 minutes and prick the bottom all over with a fork and bake according to package directions.
2. In a large saucepan, cover the sweet potato pieces with water and bring to a boil. Simmer for 15 minutes or until the sweet potato pieces are soft when poked with a knife or fork. Drain. Purée in a food processor until smooth. You may need to add back a little liquid (a tablespoon or two of water) to get a smooth consistency. Let cool completely before using.
3. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Place rack at bottom of oven. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, 1/3 cup brown sugar, and maple syrup until smooth. Add the sweet potato purée, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and 3/4 cup of cream. Mix until completely smooth. Pour into cooled crust.
4. Bake on lowest rack for 50 minutes, until filling has set. You may want to tent the edges of the pie with aluminum foil or a pie crust protector to prevent the pie crust edges from burning. Cool on rack for one hour. Then transfer to refrigerator and chill completely.
5. Make the pecan topping. Melt 3 Tbsp butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add 1/2 cup of brown sugar and cook, stirring, until smooth, about 3 minutes. Add 1 Tbsp cream, and mix in. Add the pecans, mix to coat the pecans with the sugar mixture. Let cool for 1 minute. Pour mixture over cooled pie. Use a rubber spatula to spread topping over the top of the pie. Cool until topping has hardened, about 30 minutes.
Oh! The yummy goodness!!

Wow!
A photo of mine was accepted to be in a world photo exhibit!
This is the photo:

I'm kinda stunned. I really didn't think I'd have a chance for several reasons:
1. It's a picture in San Diego and the exhibit is in San Diego....so I figured they'd want stuff from further way.
2. It's a cool picture and everything, but it's really mostly of my sunglasses.
3. I took it and I never think my stuff stands up to other peoples stuff....so why the heck would they pick mine!?
But I'm in....and I can't tell you how cool it was to walk into the exhibit and see my photo. Tomorrow I'm going back to take a picture of my picture! Woo!

A Few Things I Love
I got this idea from one of the blogs I read :-}
1. Big Train Spiced Chai Latte Mix: There is no other chai worth drinking. Trust me....I have tried a lot of chai latte mixes and none of them as as good as the Big Train brand. You can get it at Smart & Final.
2. My iSnug: I love this. I can ride the shuttle and have my iPod on my arm and not have to fumble around with it in my pocket (if I even have a pocket). I see so many people with them in pockets or just holding them and it seems like such a pain in the butt. I got my iSnug for $12 bucks!
3. Chow Mein Bowls by Nissin: These are not your Grandpa's Cup O Noodles! You have to try them if you like ramen....they're really good. I had Cup O Noodles almost every day for lunch when I was poor. You'd think I would never want to see another one of those soup cups again, but I still eat them. I've tried the chicken and the Teriyaki Beef flavors of the Chow Mein Bowls...both were yummy! One note about these tho...you *must* microwave them like the package says. Hot water alone will not do the job. Give one a try.
4. Urban Decay Body Powders: I have a pink glimer powder and a gold glimer powder and I love them. They have all different scents, tho they are not strong at all. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who can smell it when I have it on. Some of the glimer powers are too shimmery for me, but this one is applied with a cute little puff so you can put on as much or as little as you want!
5. My Canon Digital Rebel: I don't know what I did before I got this camera. Photography is the best hobby I have ever had. I would be so sad without my camera.
6. Flickr!: And what makes having a digital camera even better? Having a Flickr account, too! If you have a digital camera, sign up for an account. It's free and it's a lot of fun. I know this might sound weird, but I think I have learned to take better pictures because of I have a Flickr account. Looking at other people's work gives you ideas and you see other ways of taking pictures that you might have never thought of before. I've taken a lot of my early photo's down, but if you look on the very last pages of my account, you will see how much better I am now.....and I've only had my camera since February!
7. Oprah: I know this sounds cheesey and all that, but I have learned a lot from her. If we all were as good of a person as Oprah is, the world would be a much better place. If you can get your hands of a copy of "The Best of Oprah's What I Know For Sure" book, read it. This was a supplement to Oprah's 5th anniversary issue. I'm not kidding when I say it changed me.
8. DVR: Get rid of Tivo and get a DVR. You can record 3 shows at one time and it is a lot less expensive than Tivo.
9. West Elm: Have you been to West Elm? They have really cool stuff. Everytime I go in there I find something I want. Currently they have a bed frame I'd like to buy. They also have some bedding I love, some cool accessories for my living room, a pretty aqua bath mat set, *and* a bunch of Christmas decorations I want. It's a good thing I don't have a credit card there.
10. Chevys Restaurant: Such good Mexican food. I almost always get their shrimp & crab enchiladas. Plus, Their salsa and chips are the best!
Okay, that's my list of a few things I love :)

Charger Girls
I'm a Charger fan....always have been, always will be. So today I was looking at the Chargers website to who they are playing this weekend and I see the link to the Charger Girl section....so I clicked. I noticed that all the girls have pictures from the game that was played the day before halloween and they all had costumes on. So I was checking them all out. I thought the one named Lauren had the best costume...she was a referee ~ it's cute. I got to Stacie and I could feel a very confused look come over me. Maybe it's just me, but that girl looks like she had an allergic reaction to something and her face puffed up! She is the last blonde on the page. One other thing I noticed about Stacie.....in her bio there is a question that asks:
What is something most people don't know about you?: I can make clothes from scratch
Make clothes from scratch, hun? Humm, I've never quite heard it said like that. She sure is a smart one!
See the Charger Girls here.

A woman is killed, her boyfriend arrested
Story by Tony Manolatos
Against the advice of nearly everyone, Nicole Sinkule convinced a judge it was safe to let her abusive boyfriend back into her life. Four months later, she died from a blow to the skull with a hammer.
The boyfriend was arrested an hour after Sinkule's body was found in her Oceanside apartment. Eric Nathaniel Marum pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder three days after the Oct. 16 homicide.
Sinkule and Marum, both 25, had dated for a year and a half, and the relationship was stormy almost from the beginning.
Last summer, two protective court orders that prevented the couple from seeing one another were lifted by retired San Diego Superior Court Judge Susan P. Finlay, despite her misgivings.
"This could be a very dangerous time," Finlay predicted, according to a tape of the June 3 proceeding.
The night before Sinkule was killed, her mother had a feeling her daughter had run out of time.
"I kissed her on the cheek and told her, 'Goodbye, Nicole. The next time I see you will be in heaven,' " Claudia Sinkule said.
A lot of people tried to help Nicole Sinkule – her parents, her sister, her best friend, police, prosecutors, victim advocates. Ultimately, the young woman put her trust in Marum and his San Diego attorney, Robert Lee Grimes.
At the hearing to lift the stay-away orders, which are issued by a judge at sentencing and act as a restraining order, Grimes made a case for the couple's reunion by noting how well his client was rehabilitating.
Grimes represented Marum in all of his court cases involving Sinkule, which included spousal abuse, vandalism and methamphetamine charges.
Both Grimes and Marum declined to comment for this story.
"It's just a terrible tragedy," said Heidi Yepis, a paralegal for Grimes who cried as she spoke. "We're very upset – it's affected both of us because we've known both of them for a while."
Sinkule grew up in Palm Springs with her parents and older sister, Danetta, 27. After graduating from high school in 1998, Sinkule moved to San Clemente to live with her sister. By her 20th birthday, she was living alone in San Diego. A waitress, Sinkule took classes at San Diego Mesa College. She wanted to be a nutritionist.
Marum, a construction worker, graduated from UCLA in June 2002 with a psychology degree. His parents, Douglass and Georgia, live in Napa, where Marum grew up. His brother, Jonathan B. Marum, is a San Diego attorney with an inactive bar license. His uncle, Roger Marum, lives in Los Angeles.
"Family members have been advised by counsel to not respond to inquiries," Roger Marum wrote in an e-mail.
Public defender Daniel Segura is now representing Marum, who is being held without bond in the Vista jail pending a January hearing. Segura declined to discuss the case.
'I want to protect you'
At the June hearing before Judge Finlay, Grimes told the judge that Marum had completed a court-ordered inpatient drug-and-alcohol treatment program and was under the facility's care at a sober-living home. "He's also done very well in the domestic-violence programs," Grimes said, presenting the judge with a progress report from the Women's Resource Center.
The report said Marum completed 12 sessions and had 40 more to attend. He scored high in all eight categories, including acceptance of responsibility, empathy and insight.
"How many days sober?" Finlay asked Marum.
"A hundred and thirty, your Honor," he said.
"Pretty good. Excellent. And he's doing very well. He's completed 12 sessions," the judge said. "Do the people object to this modification?"
Deputy city attorney Stephen Marquardt did, though not vigorously.
"Your Honor, the people would like to state their reservations – based on the fact that there were three different incidents involving the defendant and the victim," Marquardt said, before summarizing each case:
September 2004 at Anthony's Fish Grotto in San Diego, where Sinkule worked. Marum "tried to drag her out of the business – her co-workers had to beat him off," Marquardt said. Marum jumped into San Diego Bay to elude police.
October 2004 in Linda Vista. Marum was caught vandalizing Sinkule's apartment.
December 2004, also in Linda Vista. Marum smashed a window from outside the apartment. He also was arrested for being under the influence of methamphetamine and possessing methamphetamine.
Marum pleaded guilty to vandalism and felony possession of meth. He was sentenced to three years' probation in March.
At that time, Marum was on probation for the earlier domestic-violence charges, which led to the protective orders. Marum's probation was revoked, but court records show he was sentenced to more treatment, not jail.
Before the June hearing, Sinkule met with prosecutors and victim advocates, and reviewed safety plans with them, Marquardt said.
"We clearly have reservations about the defendant. We don't necessarily have reservations about the victim. And, for that reason, we are willing to submit to the court on this matter," Marquardt said.
Judge Finlay retired in 2000, but she continues to work on the San Diego Superior Court bench. She declined to comment for this story.
That morning, Finlay asked Sinkule how she felt about losing her court protection.
"I'm looking at a series of events where you have been victimized by this defendant. . . . I have great reservations. . . . I want to protect you. I don't want this to happen to you anymore."
"Drugs greatly influenced a lot of the actions that happened," Sinkule said. "Um. We've worked through a lot of stuff. We've reflected on it, and learned what we can and cannot do. Um. Friends that we had we don't have in our life anymore. We're just trying to move forward now."
"How long have you known him?" Finlay asked.
"Eleven months," Sinkule replied.
"So, you've known him 11 months, and in three of those months you've been victimized?" the judge said.
"Yeah," Sinkule said, the word limping out of her mouth.
"Well, if this is what you want, I'll grant the motion. I also have great reservations because I'm seeing a pattern of behavior," the judge said, turning her attention to Marum.
"I hope you prove Mr. Marquardt and me wrong, and that our reservations are not based on anything more than just concern for Ms. Sinkule. But I'm concerned here. I think you're on pretty shaky ground."
At the end of the 10-minute hearing the judge said: "Good luck. I hope you make it."
It was time to leave
Sinkule drank socially, but she wasn't a drug user. She met the man she called Nate in a bar, her parents said. For a long time, she thought if he could kick his drug habit, he'd stop abusing her. She always saw the good in people, they said, but Marum had an unusual influence over her. "He seduced her mind," her father, Glenn Sinkule, said.
Glenn and Claudia Sinkule moved to Carlsbad in September, about a month before their daughter was killed. The Sinkules, who lived in Palm Springs for 23 years, wanted to be closer to their daughters, who were in Oceanside.
Nicole Sinkule lived in a pale pink bungalow-style apartment four blocks from the beach. A small ceramic jack-o'-lantern still hangs above her front porch.
On the last day of her life, Sinkule was with her family in their Carlsbad home. They drank beer and ate quesadillas. Everyone signed the cast on Sinkule's left foot, which she broke while riding her bike on her birthday, Sept. 20.
Pictures were taken. Sinkule was smiling. Her toes, painted pumpkin orange, poked out of her cast.
But Sinkule's parents said the mood shifted when Marum showed up, acting gruff and withdrawn, to pick up his girlfriend and take her home.
After some tense moments, Mrs. Sinkule told him: "You need to get some help." Marum left alone.
Mrs. Sinkule drove her daughter back to Oceanside about 11:30 p.m. She said she thought about a "Dr. Phil" episode on TV about domestic abuse that the two of them watched the day before. It was called "Kick Him to the Curb."
She told Nicole it was time to leave Nate. Before she left, she gathered up the few shirts and things that belonged to Marum and left them on the curb in a garbage bag.
"She was going to do it. She was going to leave him. I think he knew it," Claudia Sinkule said, trying not to cry. "She wanted out."
Mrs. Sinkule said she kissed her daughter goodbye and left her shortly before 1 a.m. An hour later, she called 911 after a neighbor of her daughter's phoned to tell her Marum was at the apartment. After her second 911 call, Oceanside Police sent a squad car to the apartment. Police questioned the couple and left.
Shortly before 5 a.m., police were back at the apartment and Nicole Sinkule was dead. Within minutes, police broadcast a description of Marum and his vehicle. They found him driving about a half-mile from the apartment.
At 7 a.m., Mrs. Sinkule called her daughter. No one answered. She tried two more times. At 11:30 a.m., a detective with the Oceanside Police Department rang her doorbell.

We're All The Same
The next time you're having a bad hair day....or maybe your pants are not as loose as they were last month....or perhaps you notice you have a pimple....don't think about all the Hollywood types who never seem to have these problems. "The Beautiful People" are not any better than us "Normal People". Sure, they look flawless and perfect, but it's a lie of sorts. I have seen pictures of Britney Spears looking down right bad! I would have never thought that the perfect girl on the perfume commercials could actually have bad skin! But let me tell you, she does. I can honestly say I think my 38 year old skin is in better shape than hers. The reason they look good is because they have things we don't. I'd look great if I had a make-up artist, hair stylist, wardrobe people and a photo/video editor. Case in point:
"...Clean up complexion, soften eye lines, soften smile line, add color to lips, trim chin, remove neck lines, soften line under ear lobe, add highlights to earrings, add blush to cheek, clean up neck line, remove stray hair, remove hair strands from dress, adjust color and add hair on top of head, add dress on side to create better line..."
This is the $1,525.00 invoice for retouching the cover photo of Michelle Pfeiffer, in the December 1990, issue of Esquire magazine. The photo's caption reads, "What Michelle Pfeiffer Needs...Is Absolutely Nothing."
Here are the pictures:
1990 Esquire cover Inside picture
See, we'd all look good in print if we had about $1,600 bucks. Remember that the next time you wish you look like one of the Hollywood types. You might not be getting what you think you're getting.

Friday....finally
It's finally Friday....this week has been a killer. Why do some weeks fly by and others seem like they will never end?
Speaking of flying by, I have something kinda funny to tell you. I have two calendars on my wall. One is set to the current month and the other is set to the next month so I can look ahead. Well I forgot to advance the pages on each of the calendars, so they are still October and November. This morning I looked at the October calendar thinking it was November. Imagine my surprise when I think it's November 7th already! I sat there for a minute wondering how I'd lost about 3 days of my life....how could it be the 7th already? I shook my head and went on with my business. I came across something that was date stamped November 4th and I said to myself "The computers are date stamping things with the wrong date! Yikes!!" I composed an email to the technical people to report the problem. I was about to send it when something caught my eye in another window on my computer screen. It was a new email message that popped up.....and the date on it glared at me...November 4th. I looked at the calendar on my wall again and suddenly October was glaring at me, too. I tell you....I was seconds from sending that email to a boat-load of people saying the system had the date wrong....it would have been sooo embarrassing. Oddly, the email message that popped up and alerted me was from The Old Globe Theater...who's mailing list I've been trying to unsubscribe from for two days with no luck. Divine intervention? Maybe so :-)

You have to check out this disclaimer. I think it's really funny.

In the news...
San Clemente, California (Reuters) - A pizza parlor burglar who took the time to bake himself a large pepperoni to go, took off when the overnight crew arrived, but still got away with plenty of dough, police said.
Authorities believe that Monday's caper in the coastal Southern California town of San Clemente may have been interrupted by an employee arriving to work at Sonny's Pizza & Pasta, forcing the would-be baker to forgo his snack and flee hastily with only the restaurant's safe.
A surveillance camera captured the entire incident, and the Orange County Sheriff's Department plans on publicizing the videotape to aid their search for the thief.
The suspect entered the restaurant about 2 a.m. and rummaged around for a cook's apron, trying on several until he found one that fit, then began preparing a pepperoni pizza with all the fixings, said sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino.
The employee arrived at about 3 a.m., found the pizza smoldering in the oven and the safe missing with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Let Your Love Flow
There's a reason for the sunshiny sky There's a reason why I'm feeling so high Must be the season when those love lights shine all around us So let that feeling grab you deep inside And send you reeling where your love can't hide And then go stealing through the moonlit night with your lover
Just let your love flow like a mountain stream And let your love grow with the smallest of dreams And let your love show and you'll know what I mean it's the season Let your love fly like a bird on the wind And let your love find you to all living things And let your love shine and you'll know what I mean that's the reason
There's a reason for the warm sweet nights And there's a reason for the candle lights Must be the season when those love lights shine all around us So let that wonder take you into space And lay you under its loving embrace Just feel the thunder as it warms your face you can't hold back
Just let your love flow like a mountain stream And let your love grow with the smallest of dreams And let your love show and you'll know what I mean it's the season Let your love fly like a bird on the wind And let your love find you to all living things And let your love shine and you'll know what I mean that's the reason
Just let your love flow like a mountain stream And let your love grow with the smallest of dreams And let your love show and you'll know what I mean it's the season Let your love fly like a bird on the wind And let your love find you to all living things And let your love shine and you'll know what I mean that's the reason ~Bellamy Brothers
